"Oh, old man. I am your mirror. The reflection of your own flaws. The living representation of your own greed. Except I am nowhere near as ugly."
-The Jolly Ghost to Ebenezer Boozoo
The Jolly Ghost of Present Times, or Jolly, is a character that only appears in Boozoo’s Ghosts. She reveals to Boozoo the results of his actions to get him to change his ways.
Appearance[]
The Jolly Ghost is the largest of the three ghosts, with a design similar to Sha. She is mostly covered in tattered, soiled looking yellow wool, with the exception of her bright red, metallic looking forearms and legs, but her thighs are covered by her wool. Her wool is in such a ragged state that she has stitching keeping it together on each of her limbs, underneath her neck, and across the waist. Her chest and face are white, most likely to represent the average sheep's short-haired face.
She wears a blue jester cap (also known as a fool's cap) with three points, which is complimented by a yellow trim and three yellow balls at the end of each of the three points. Additionally, she is wrapped in 4 constantly blinking yellow Christmas light strings -- 1 on each of her limbs and 1 around her torso. Lastly, a blue bow tie with green polka dots hangs off of her bright red, metallic neck. The Jolly Ghost's facial features consist of ovular, sunken yellow eyes, a small, triangular salmon colored nose, and an abnormally wide and toothy grin that stretches close to her rosy cheekbones. To add to her playful, jolly, and clown-like appearance, she has black triangular clown makeup on both of her eyes, with the triangle above her right eye blending into her eyelashes.
Before becoming distorted, her features are simplistically cartoony, and she's more brightly colored; after becoming distorted, The Jolly Ghost's features become surreal and significantly worn down. Her triangular face makeup becomes lines down her face that stop at her wide grin -- this could be blackened tear tracks, the makeup in question after distortion, or cracks on her face due to her state of disrepair. Her teeth go from bright yellow to a unnervingly bright white, and their shape changes from square to semi-circular, making them look like human teeth. Her bowtie droops from its upright state, and her hat becomes grimy looking, the way her wool does. Her wool becomes significantly less fluffy as a result of becoming surrealistic, and the harsh shading on it gives it a filthy, discolored look. The bright red metallic sections of her limbs become more realistic, her fingers becoming visibly segmented and her feet getting one small hole by the ankle each. Her metallic neck becomes also becomes more detailed, and it appears to become two separate metal rods as opposed to the singular one it was when The Jolly Ghost was drawn in her cartoony form, but it's unclear whether the black section in the middle of her neck is a detail of her deteriorated state or if it's an actual gap in the metal that forms her neck.
Boozoo's Ghosts[]
The Jolly Ghost is a personification emphasizing the fact that Boozoo is a horrible man. She is the ghost that shows him the results of his selfish and cruel actions as they unfold in the present, making him face the fact that he caused Banny’s family (consisting of her and her younger sisters) to be so poverty-stricken that the rabbit can't afford to get them anything for Christmas. She additionally implies that his actions will cause the family's inevitable deaths to happen earlier than they should if he continues to act this way, much to his remorse.
When Boozoo asks her what's inside of the presents staring at him at her feet, and whether or not they're staring at him, The Jolly Ghost starts going under a distortion sequence in which she becomes very surrealistic, accompanied by equally distorted music.
She then shows him his ignorance and want (represented by two clown figurines, one happy and one sad), and tells him that they're dying and that he killed them. They start to make distorted noises, and despite Boozoo pleading with them to stop, they only become louder and more distorted. The clowns only stop completely once he yells at them to "please stop"; they then start to make a noise akin to a repetitive audio glitch, and start to distort and melt into the ground, their colors becoming overly saturated.
When Boozoo realizes that they're dying, he begs her to stop their deaths, but she rejects that his actions have caused them to die, likely referring to his pay dock on Banny resulting in her visiting him and making him realize that his actions have consequences, which in turn has killed his ignorance and greed by causing an epiphany. After this, she tells him "it's your time", the music that initially played when she became surrealistic plays again, and she further distorts, becoming digitally glitched before disappearing.
Abilities[]
Note: This is speculation
Due to her nature as a ghost, her speculated abilities are:
- Powering the strings of lights present on her body as naturally as a person's heart beat
- Conjuring up images of people and places in present time.
- Can create hallucinations and conjure up images to break down an individual’s psyche.
